My Hair Through The Ages!

I've done lots of crazy things with my hair over the years and today I thought I'd share them with you!

You'll have to excuse the bad photo's but some of these are very old! From black to blonde I've done it all, including bright pink and bright purple (middle left and bottom right). I loved the brights but they're so hard to keep on top of as you have to keep colouring it as they don't come in permanent. Not to mention all the bleaching, I wish I was a natural blonde I'd have all the colours of the rainbow, all at the same time! (not sure my employers would like that mind!)

If your wondering what's going on in the middle picture of the top row, they're synthetic dread extensions and I loved them! It took my friend ages to put them in, you have to braid them into your natural hair and they were so heavy! The only problem was after a few washes they started to unravel and look tatty. It was funny when I took them out I had an afro!

When I went white blonde (top right) I decided to bleach my eyebrows too (I had been blonde before and succeeded in bleaching them blonde to match) as I hate the whole white hair and dark eyebrows thing (don't even get me started!) but I did it and they went ginger! So I did them again and they disappeared completely, I must have left it on too long! I had to draw them in until they grew back!

The oldest picture here where my hair is black (top left) and the waviness at the ends of my hair is my perm growing out, yes, I said perm. Not an old lady perm, but a spiral perm and I loved having curly hair it was so easy, all I had to do was wet it, mousse it, and scrunch it. Done!

What's the craziest thing you've done to your hair?

Collection Extreme 24hr Eye Liner

When it comes to winged eyeliner, I'm pretty hopeless.

It didn't stop me wanting to do it though, and being cat obsessed as I am, I so desperately wanted cat flicks! (Sad but true!) but Collection Extreme 24hr Eye Liner has helped me achieve my dream. It's essentially a felt tip for your face (more specifically eyes!) and being able to hold it like a pen makes it much easier for a noob like me. I'm not saying everyone who gets this will magically be able to wing their eye liner but it helps and with some practice I've finally nailed it.

To do my flicks, I line my upper lash line as usual and then I hold the liner against my bottom lash line, like an imaginary ruler and then press the long side of the tip against my eye to create a template for my flick. I then blend that into the rest of my liner and then set the whole lot with powder before I move onto mascara. I found that quite difficult to describe so I'll add a picture below to make sure your catching my drift!

Look at my concentrating face! Least I've not got my tongue out! Anyway, I have serious creasing issues when it comes to eye make up thanks to my hooded eyelids but this really stays put for me (and I do set with powder too) I think 24 hours would be an exaggeration but certainly 8+ hours whilst I'm at work and with a RRP of £2.99 whats not to love?

Get yours HERE or in your local Boots or Superdrug.

Slimming World! #2

Just another little update!

One pound off this week. I won't lie I was a little disappointed as I really wanted my half stone shiny sticker but alas I will have to wait another week. A loss is better than a gain though, so it could be worse. I suspect I may have lost a little more if it wasn't for all the (shop bought) coffee I drink at work (I'll just blame my colleagues for buying it me, because it surely couldn't be my own fault, right?!)

Anyway, gone and onto the next one and I hope I get my sticker this time!

Easy Eye Look

Photo of eye look

So I was playing around with eyeshadow and thought I'd share my result with you.

It's not at all difficult, in fact it's probably insulting that I'm writing about something so simple but I liked the effect and thought I'd share it with you!

I used Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Shadow Cream in Creamy Beige all over my eyelid and then used my finger and tapped it in my The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer and used this just in the centre of my eyelid. I found using highlighter like this adds subtle dimension to eye rather than it being just a flat colour. I finished off with Collection Extreme 24hr Felt Tip Liner creating a slight cat flick at the outer corner, I smudged some Lacura Eye Liner Pencil (similiar herea third of the way along my bottom eyelashes and then coating my eyelashes in a few coats of Bourjois Volume  Seconde Waterproof Mascara.

That's all there was too it!

What's your favourite eyeshadow?

I had my first weigh in and I'm four pounds lighter hooray! If I lose another 3 I could have a half stone shiny sticker next week! I'm really surprised actually because although I've stuck to it I've not felt like I've been restricted or anything so happy days! This is just a quick update but I might start posting a few recipes etc so stay tuned folks!

Have any of you had any success with Slimming World or similar?

Worth The Hype? Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof

Exploding all over the bloggersphere lately is Maybelline's Lash Sensational Mascara, so, is it worth the hype?

First thing I'll say is that I have the waterproof version as I always struggle with mascara smudging under my eyebrows - not a good look! That brings me to my first point about this mascara, it is without a doubt, VERY waterproof! My precious Nip and Fab Cleansing Fix failed to remove it completely, and my Garnier Micellar Water also failed to get it off too. I ended up using a Loreal Cleansing Oil that I had lying around which eventually did the trick. So my advice would be if you buy the waterproof version, your going to need a dedicated oil based remover to shift the bugger. However, you can't say it's NOT waterproof!

On to the actually mascara and I'm glad to say, yes, it's worth the hype! The wand is plastic, which I usually don't like but the bristles on this really do get into the lashes and give excellent separation. It has a slight spoon shape which I also like as I feel spoon shaped wands fit around my eye better (if that makes sense?!). The brush itself is quite flexible, but no so flexible that you get mascara everywhere, but just enough flexibility to allow you to work the wand into your lashes. The formula is excellent too, creating volume with stunning separation. It claims to be a lash multiplying mascara and I absolutely agree with that.

Get yours HERE from Boots Online for £5.99 on offer (usually £7.99)

So I Joined Slimming World...

Unfortunately for me, my excess baby weight didn't just drop off like so many claimed it would and he was a rather large baby and I got rather large with it, so I decided to join Slimming World and I thought I'd share my experience with you!

I went to my first meeting on Wednesday and I will admit they were quite full on but it was clear the lady had a passion for it which I guess is a good sign. I know a few people who have been doing Slimming World and having success so I thought I'd give it a go.

I felt a bit like a lost child when I walked in, not knowing what to do or what to expect but the lady running the group was very friendly and welcoming. There's a lot of information to take in and I'm still going through the bundle of info and booklets she gave me (when Splodge allows me too!) and I've been asked to write a food diary which is a bit of a drag but I really what rid of my baby podge!

I had my first weigh in (uuuuuurrrrrrgggghhhh) but it's all confidential and it's not broadcast to the group or anything so that's good! I'm not going to disclose how much I weigh, because hey, I wouldn't be going to Slimming World if I wasn't sensitive about it! I will tell you how I get on and how much I lose (I hope!) over the weeks, and maybe even a before and after shot in months to come!

So all I can say so far, is watch this space and I'll probably update weekly on my progress!

Wish me luck!

Nair Wax Strips - What Am I doing Wrong?!

I'm afraid your going to have to deal with some unflattering photos of my legs for this post!

I don't make a habit of posting poorly angled photo's of my hairy legs online but there is a reason i'm doing so. I've always wanted home waxing gizmo's to work for me but alas they never seem to. Wax strips in the past have had a tendency of pulling a layer of my skin off and no hair which makes me sad as I love the idea of waxing my legs then not having to think about it for a few weeks (I'm pretty lazy like that!). So when I saw Miss Budget Beauty rave about these after saying how she had never got on with wax strips, just like me, I knew I had to try them. However, as the photo's above show, it was pretty disastrous, I followed the instructions, even looked up waxing videos online and the same thing kept happening. I'd rub the strip until the writing disappeared, carefully peel the strip apart, then place on leg and rub in the direction of growth and then pull off sharply in opposite direction and every time the strip would come away and the wax would stay on my leg!

My only conclusion is I must be doing it wrong, and I would love someone to tell me where I'm going wrong! I REALLY, REALLY want these to work for me!

Get your own Nair Argan Oil Wax Strips HERE currently on special offer at £3.33 (RRP £6.69!)

Can you help me?

Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation

Today I have a review of Maybelline's Dream Flawless Nude Foundation*

I wasn't expecting to write this post as the foundation isn't actually mine! I stayed with my mum and dad last week and like mothers and daughters do, my mum said she bought some new foundation and asked if I wanted to give it a go, which naturally I did!

I was so impressed I used it all week! The consistency is quite watery and thin and when you apply it, it feels like it fades to nothing on your skin. I initially thought it couldn't possibly be any good because it felt like it had disappeared but actually it hadn't, it left a light to medium coverage which is skin like and invisible. I was even more impressed as I had a cold all week and was blowing and wiping my nose a lot (sexy!) which left the skin around my nose really dry and horrible and I thought any foundation that I put on my face would cling to the dry patches but this didn't do that at all and actually covered it quite well.

There was one thing that I didn't really get, and that was the weird dropper thing. It didn't really seem to serve any purpose, it didn't even "drop" that well. I ended up using it to swipe the product on my fingers and then applying on my face or swiping directly on my face and applying with a brush, both techniques worked equally as well.

Overall, I really rate this foundation, it has a nice amount of undetectable coverage and is really natural looking which is ideal for everyday wear.

You can get Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation HERE or in store at Boots, currently on offer at £5.99 (RRP £8.99) and buy one get one half price across the range!

*I gave it one of these seen as it's not actually mine and I didn't buy it.
