Mask Monday! #7

Happy Monday everyone!

I have a Mask Monday for you today! I picked up this Montagne Jeunesse (do not ask me to pronounce that one!) 7th Heaven Manuka Honey Peel Off mask in Boots last time I was in there and this morning I put it to the test!

First things first and I actually found this really easy to open! You may be thinking I've become a 90 year old woman but fear not, I always find sachets of things really god damn hard to open with wet hands in the bath! Next it smells divine, like a nice, sweet, honey smell (believe it or not!) that made me want to eat it! (Not recommended!) and it has a slight yellow colour to it (which I think is expected of a honey scented product). It doesn't sting or tingle, I personally don't mind a little tingle as I feel like a mask is doing something if it tingles but there is a fine line between tingle and sting, and sting is not good but you don't get any of that with this, so I think it would be fine for sensitive skin. It says it's a peel off formula and as you can see from the picture above it does peel off but I'd say there was about 10% of it that I had to wash off. I think it was just in areas where I applied it a little thick but it wasn't difficult to wash off with water and a sponge.

The mask claims to purify and remove dead skin cells and I do feel like my skin looked brighter and smoother after use so I do agree with those claims. No it doesn't make a radical difference but I just enjoy kicking back in the tub and having a little relax with a mask always makes me feel better. Time is something you need with this mask as it says to leave it on 20-25 minutes, any excuse to take a nice, long bath right!?

You can pick these up in Boots or other retailers for around the £1.00 mark

Do you have any mask recommendations?

Mask Monday! #6

Eve Lom Mask

Just another manic monday!

But it's also mask monday so that's alright! Today's offering comes from Eve Lom and it's their Rescue Mask which you may have seen me mention briefly before as I got it as a free sample from the Latest Free Stuff website.

First things first, the smell was HORRIFIC, you need a strong stomach for this one. However, if you can get over the smell the product itself was very effective. It's a clay mask so it tightens as it dries and your pores feel like there getting a good clean out, and afterwards my skin looked a lot brighter.

When I get samples like this I usually only use half so I can get two goes out of one sachet (I'm a cheap skate and like things to go further) but as I put this on I knew I wouldn't want to use it twice as the smell for me was too much. It's a really strange almost minty smell but not a nice minty smell. It does contain Camphor, so that's probably where that comes from. It says its a deep cleansing mask, which I agree with, it also says it's soothing and calming, which I don't agree with because of the smell and it also says it's good for puffy, tired, morning after eyes which I can't really comment on as my eyes weren't puffy when I used this.

Next thing is the price, a full sized 100ml jar of this stuff will set you back £55! Way, way, waaaay out of my price range! To me, it's just not worth it but if you have those kind of pennies you can get yours HERE.

What's your favourite face mask?

Mask Monday! #5

Mask Monday time again!

Today I have Superdrug's Own Naturally Radiant Glycolic Overnight Peel (another nice short title....). It claims to awaken skin's natural glow and improve skin tone and texture. It's a bit different to your usual face mask in that you apply it to a cleansed face at night and leave it overnight before washing it off in the morning. At first glance I thought this was a peel off mask but don't be fooled, the word "peel" is in the title, but I actually have no idea why. It doesn't claim to peel off or exfoilate, I can only guess it's to do with it's retexturising properties or that it contains glycolic acid which I'm pretty sure is a chemical exfoliator?

Anyway moving on, at first I thought that the tube was pretty small (with only 30ml inside) however when you use it you only need a pea sized amount to cover your face so your actually getting quite a lot for your money in that respect (that and it's almost always on some kind of offer). It's got a watery consistency but it doesn't feel sticky and it sinks into your skin pretty quickly so you don't have that wet face feeling for ages after you put it on.

When it comes to results I can't say I've seen a huge difference in my skin, but my breakouts seem to be less and when it comes to brightening it will take a huge amount of something to brighten my skin after I've been up and down seeing to a teething baby all night! It could be a psychological thing as when I think of a face mask doing something for my skin I expect it to tingle or something. I do like the fact this stays on the skin all night, I feel like it gives the product time to actually work.

Superdrug's Own Naturally Radiant Glycolic Overnight Peel is available HERE or in your local store.

Have you tried an overnight mask? Was it any good?

Mask Monday! #4

Today I bring you Annies Way!

This mask was a high end treat for myself quite a while back, it's the Annies Way Arbutin and Hyaluronic Acid Brightening Jelly Mask (looooooooooong title!) and it's more expensive than what I would usually go for but I'd heard good things and decided to give it a go.

The tub I have is 250ml and considering it's a face mask that's a lot. This tub has lasted me seemingly forever, I can't even remember how long I've had it! As the title suggests the consistency is like jelly, and it's unlike any mask I've used. It feels as gentle as water and it's really cooling on the skin which makes it so refreshing, and the perfect evening treat on a hot day (not that we have many of those!) There is absolutely no tingle or stinging or anything of the sort with this mask so it's ideal for sensitive skin, so much so I can put this around my sensitive eye area with no problems. It does come with a spatula that your supposed to remove the mask with but I have long since lost that and use a flannel to remove it.

I feel it does leave my skin looking more bright and radiant after use and I've had no adverse effects after using this. Price wise there are cheaper masks out there that will probably be just as effective but you do get a lot of product for your money so I would say it's cost effective.

Get yours HERE for £13.90 (correct at time of publishing)

Mask Monday! #3

It's Monday again already! Mask Monday time!

And just to throw you off I've got a hair mask to show you today! Who said Mask Monday was all about face masks eh?!

So anyway, here I have Lee Stafford For Hair That Never Grows Past A Certain Length Treatment and I had my eye on this a while as it's a bit on the pricey side (for me!) at £8.49 (RRP) but when I saw it on a good offer I thought it's now or never!

So does it work? I can't say yes definitively but I feel my hair is growing quicker than usual AND past the length it usually gets to before it stops. I can't decide if it's because I'm paying attention to the length of my hair more, like a placebo effect if you will, or if it's actually working, but I feel like it is.

You apply this treatment in between shampoo and your conditioner, however I don't use conditioner (shock horror!) so I just use this after shampooing and slather a load through my hair paying more attention to the roots and scalp and then leave it for 5 minutes before rinsing it out. I did wonder if I'd like this product as I'm not really into deep conditioners because I feel they make my hair lank and oily after using them (my hair is oily enough as it is!) but this felt like a deep conditioner when using it, and my brush slid easily through my hair as it would if I'd used conditioner but the day after my hair just felt like washed hair, with none of that oiliness I seem to get after using conditioner. Definitely a win for me!

I will definitely re purchase this as long as it's on a good offer (which it seems to be fairly often) at the moment you can get yours in store or HERE at Boots 2 for £10!

Mask Monday! #2

It's Mask Monday again!

(The bottom right picture just shows how excited I am! And for my amusement!)

Today's offering is in the form of Nip + Fab Deep Cleansing Fix it's not just a mask, you can remove make up with it and apply it directly on spots as a treatment, I love this stuff, it's not the first time its appeared on my blog (you can see my previous post on this HERE).

For today's purposes were just talking how it performs as a face mask. It has a creamy texture and is fresh feeling on the skin, the eucalyptus scent is refreshing but it is strong and may put people off trying it. It doesn't sting but it does have a slight tingle which wears off after a little while, because of this if your skin is sensitive you might want to give this one a miss. I like a tingle, it makes me feel like a product is doing something but blemish products do have a tendency to sting, however, this does not! I usually wipe this off with a muslin cloth and then rinse my face to make sure there's none left behind and after I use this my skin feels nice and soft and really clean feeling (if you know what I mean) without my skin feeling dry or tight.

I do feel like this product really does help keep my, at times troublesome, skin at bay and I regularly use it as a ten minute face mask while I'm chillin' in the tub!

The packaging has changed (mine is old packaging) but get yours HERE and rest assured it is the same thing!

Mask Monday!

Time for a new series!

Introducing Mask Monday! A place for reviews on various different face masks (believe it or not!) each week. I'm going to kick start with Superdrug Clearly Youthful Peel Off Mask.

The first thing I want to say about this is when I say it's a peel off mask, I actually mean it. It's addictive, like peeling PVA glue off your hands when you were a kid! It also means less mess and less faff which is also a good thing! It comes in a tube so you get more than one use out of it unlike the sachet kind of masks but it does cost a bit more at £6.99 however it's usually on some kind of offer (currently BOGOF).

The thing that really impresses me about this is that it is anti-blemish, youth boosting, spot fighting, anti-shine AND anti-ageing, a combination you don't often see but really appeals to me as a twenty-something who wants to keep ageing at bay but also still gets oily and blemished skin.

There are a couple of things to bear in mind with this product and that is firstly, the smell is quite a strong chemically smell which may put people off and it also tingles. For me tingling isn't a problem, I feel like it's working its magic but if your skin is sensitive or you just don't like tingling then this is probably not for you.

Superdrug Clearly Youthful Peel Off Mask is available at larger Superdrug stores or online HERE
