Slimming World! #5

Slimming world 1 stone award
I put a sticky label over my name because they always spell it wrong! It looks like I stole my certificate!

I got my stone award from Slimming World!

I'm so pleased! Goodbye baby weight (and the little extra I accumulated myself.....ahem!) it's slow and steady weight loss and although in the past I've lost weight quite dramatically and quickly it's not healthy and generally unsustainable. Slow and steady wins the race and it's also more likely to stay off too! My work trousers are loose and its quite annoying actually because I'm skint and can't buy anymore yet!

I know I say it a lot but I'm shocked I lost anything this week, with the baby Splodge at Gran's house for the weekend we had a Tesco takeaway!

It was also taster week and people brought lots of yummy sweet treats which I'm going to have to give a try at home so I will show you how I go on!

Slimming World! #2

Just another little update!

One pound off this week. I won't lie I was a little disappointed as I really wanted my half stone shiny sticker but alas I will have to wait another week. A loss is better than a gain though, so it could be worse. I suspect I may have lost a little more if it wasn't for all the (shop bought) coffee I drink at work (I'll just blame my colleagues for buying it me, because it surely couldn't be my own fault, right?!)

Anyway, gone and onto the next one and I hope I get my sticker this time!

So I Joined Slimming World...

Unfortunately for me, my excess baby weight didn't just drop off like so many claimed it would and he was a rather large baby and I got rather large with it, so I decided to join Slimming World and I thought I'd share my experience with you!

I went to my first meeting on Wednesday and I will admit they were quite full on but it was clear the lady had a passion for it which I guess is a good sign. I know a few people who have been doing Slimming World and having success so I thought I'd give it a go.

I felt a bit like a lost child when I walked in, not knowing what to do or what to expect but the lady running the group was very friendly and welcoming. There's a lot of information to take in and I'm still going through the bundle of info and booklets she gave me (when Splodge allows me too!) and I've been asked to write a food diary which is a bit of a drag but I really what rid of my baby podge!

I had my first weigh in (uuuuuurrrrrrgggghhhh) but it's all confidential and it's not broadcast to the group or anything so that's good! I'm not going to disclose how much I weigh, because hey, I wouldn't be going to Slimming World if I wasn't sensitive about it! I will tell you how I get on and how much I lose (I hope!) over the weeks, and maybe even a before and after shot in months to come!

So all I can say so far, is watch this space and I'll probably update weekly on my progress!

Wish me luck!

P*ss Easy Quesadillas

Ever get stuck in a lunchtime rut?

I do and although I may not be in work at the moment (I'm on maternity leave) it always seems when lunchtime comes along I always go for the same old, same old sarnie. Don't get me wrong I love a good buttie but sometimes I feel like a change. Today, I decided I fancied something different and remembered a really simple recipe (I don't even think you can call it that) that my brother once showed me.

Now I'm hopeless at cooking so if I can do this then a toddler could do it! All you need is:
  • Tortillas (the floppy kind!)
  • Tomato purée, ketchup or salsa (I used tomato paste as it's all I had in! You can use whatever you fancy.)
  • Whatever you like as a filling. You could use cheese, any veggies or meat that you fancy, I'm a vegetarian and as this was a rather impromptu idea I used peppers, cheese and mixed herbs as it's all I had in at the time!

All you need to do is spread your tomato sauce (or whatever your using) all over your tortilla, add your fillings (here I used cheese, peppers and mixed herbs) to one side of your tortilla and fold over. Pop your folded quesadilla under a medium grill until it turns crispy and golden brown. I don't have a set time for this, I just keep an eye on it until it's done, it's no more than a few minutes.

Et voila! Tasty quesadillas that are p*ss easy to make and a change from your usual lunchtime bite! You can have loads of fun with these the possibilities are endless, you could top these with more cheese and swap the filling out with whatever you want!

Bon Appetit!

Banana Biccies!

These biscuits are made with just 2 ingredients! I found this recipe on the Blogilates channel on YouTube, where Cassey leads different work outs and recipes. Find her HERE. I thought I'd give it try and share my results with you!

This recipe is so easy, even I can do it (even though I did break my whizzer, oops!) and it's cheap, clean, eating which I hoping to get more into as I have baby weight to shift and need to eat healthier! If your not familiar with the whole clean eating thing, as I understand it, it's just about eating food that's not processed, that doesn't have ingredients in that have ridiculously long, nonsensical, names that you've never heard of, and making things from scratch so you know exactly what's in it.

So all you need are 2 banana's and a cup of oats!

Cut up banana

Peel and slice your banana's into coins

A cup of oats

Take a cup of oats and use a blender to grind them into a finer, almost flour like consistency

Blend your banana's and oats together to create a nice thick, sticky dough (you can mush with your hands here too if you want, I had to as I broke my blender! Take it out the blender first though!)

Blender

Shape your dough into circle, biscuit shapes and place on a greased baking tray.

Bake for 10-15 mins at 180C (350F) Gas Mark 4 (depending on size of biccies!)

Et Voila! Banana biccies! It was so easy you should try it!
